Do you have an orchid on your windowsill? Is it losing its shine? Are the leaves wilted and weak?

Orchids are beautiful, but at the same time very delicate plants, which quickly show if something is wrong with them. When the leaves lose tension, become wrinkled and bend upwards easily, it is a clear sign that the plant is lacking water.

Even more telling is the condition of the roots – if they are white to grayish in color, thin and wrinkled, it is time for immediate action.

The right way to water is key

Watering should not be random or excessive. Submerge the orchid in a container of water so that water never comes into contact with the leaves or flowers. After about twenty minutes, remove it and let it drain well. This will prevent moisture retention, which can lead to root rot. When the plant is dry, return it to its pot and, if necessary, gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth.

Avoid direct sunlight.

Although they love light, orchids cannot tolerate harsh sun raysThese can damage the leaves, so choose a location with diffused light where the plant can breathe and receive enough light energy without the risk of burns.

The magical power of black tea

One of the least known but extremely effective tricks for reviving an orchid is black tea bathTake a black tea bag and place it in a glass of purified water. After five minutes, remove it, let the liquid cool, and then immerse the orchid roots in this aromatic bath.

Tannin from tea will send a signal to the roots that it is time to grow. Leave the orchid in this liquid for a day. In the evening, take it out and let it dry completely. The next morning, repeat the process. Repeat the cycle for several days until you notice a change - the roots will regain their green color and the leaves will regain their tension and shine.

Prepare the substrate for new growth

If you want to transplant an orchid after restoration, choose airy substrate – specially prepared for these types of plants. It should consist of pieces of bark that allow sufficient air flow between the roots. This will prevent moisture retention and ensure the long-term health of the plant.

Visible results after just a few days

By repeating the wet-dry cycle, you will notice that the plant comes back to life after just a few days. The roots will be visibly stronger, more elastic and greener, and the leaves will be firmer.

The orchid will enter a cycle of lush flowering with a new start., which will once again bring the luxury of flowers and the pleasure of looking at them.
