You know that moment when you open your closet and it hits you – not with freshness, but with a mustiness, as if you’ve just stepped into the attic of an old aunt who hasn’t known about air fresheners for a decade? Don’t worry – you’re not alone. The smell that builds up in enclosed spaces like closets, drawers and even shoe racks isn’t necessarily a sign of neglect, but a natural result of humidity, poor ventilation and aging fabrics. It’s time to get to know cinnamon spray.

But the good news is that you can combat this elegantly – and above all naturally – with cinnamon spray. Forget about artificial sprays full of synthetic fragrances and aerosols. The solution lies in your kitchen. More precisely: in cinnamon, vinegar, cloves, and vanilla. With the right preparation process, you can create a spray that will fill your home with the scent of homeliness – as if someone had just baked an apple pie using grandma's secret recipe.

How does cinnamon spray work and why is it effective?

This natural DIY spray works on three levels: neutralizes unpleasant odors, has antibacterial effect and leaves a pleasant, warm scentwhich lasts for several days.

Cinnamon and cloves are known for their antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Studies have shown that cinnamon essential oils are effective against odor-causing bacteria, especially in indoor spaces. In addition, cinnamon stimulates the senses and promotes a feeling of warmth and comfort – which in the local language means that it instantly puts you in a “hygge” mood.

Vinegar, despite its initial intense smell, acts as a neutralizer – breaks down odor molecules, eliminating the source of the problem, not just masking it. It is important to use distilled white vinegar, as it does not leave stains and does not cause reactions with other ingredients.

Vanilla is the icing on the cake – it not only rules desserts, but also your nose. Natural vanilla extract or a few drops of vanilla oil add sweetness and depth to the scent, which spreads slowly and persistently throughout the room.

Recipe: step by step

Ingredients needed:

    • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
    • 1/2 cup white vinegar

    • clean spray bottle (glass is the best choice)

Process:

Drain the liquid. and let it cool down a bit.

Mix chilled cinnamon water with white vinegar. in a ratio of 3:1 (water:vinegar).

Add a few drops of vanilla extract and pour it all into a spray bottle.

Spray inside the closet, on the doors, shelves or even on the clothes – from a distance, of course, so as not to get the fabrics wet.

Tip: Before using on textiles for the first time, test on a less visible area to avoid possible stains.
