Although collagen has been talked about almost as much as Taylor Swift lately, most people don't know that this protein is the silent builder of our skin, joints, bones and even the intestinal lining. In the skin, collagen makes up more than 70% of its structural mass and gives it what we all notice – firmness, elasticity and enviable smoothness. Unfortunately, after the age of 25, its production begins to dry up – slowly but steadily. Professional research confirms that we can lose up to 30% of collagen in a decade, which quickly translates into fine wrinkles, sagging and a tired appearance of the skin.

The industry response? Collagen serums, often of animal origin, which, due to their large molecules, remain on the surface of the skin and wait there for your faith in miracles. But there is also a more sensible, natural solution: to stimulate own collagen synthesis with the help of active, plant-based ingredients – vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants, which are proven to penetrate the skin and actually do something. And that's exactly what this product offers. homemade recipe, which is at once simple, effective and pleasantly therapeutic.

Recipe: Homemade Collagen Booster for Night Care

This homemade cream is not just another Instagram trend, but a smart combination of active ingredients that are supported by scientific facts and dermatological studies. It is intended for evening use, as its ingredients work most intensively at night, when the skin regenerates. It can be prepared in less than 30 minutes, and the result is noticeably softer, moisturized and more elastic skin - without any traces of aggressive chemicals.

What you need:

    • 1 fresh beetroot
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 70 ml rose water
    • 2 tablespoons flax seeds
    • 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
    • 10 drops of jojoba oil

Optional accessories (for upgrade):

    • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
    • 3–5 drops of vitamin E
    • 2–3 drops of rosehip oil

Preparation process:

Get beetroot juice: Peel and grate the beetroot and squeeze it through cheesecloth. The juice contains a high concentration of vitamin C, which acts as a coenzyme in collagen synthesis and protects the skin from oxidative stress.

Prepare the base: Pour the beetroot juice, rose water and cornstarch into a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until a thick, smooth cream forms. The starch acts as a natural thickener and forms a protective layer on the skin, preventing moisture loss.

Cook flaxseed gel: In another saucepan, boil the flax seeds in about 1.5 dl of water. After 5 minutes of cooking, a gel-like mass rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lignans and polysaccharides will be released. Strain the gel through cheesecloth and let it cool slightly.

Combine phases: Once the beetroot base has cooled, gradually stir in the flaxseed gel. Add the almond and jojoba oils and mix until you get a uniform, silky texture. If you decide to add any toppings, add them at the end.

Storage: Pour the cream into a sterilized glass jar, preferably dark. Store it in the refrigerator and use it within a week. If you used vitamin E or glycerin, it will last a little longer.

Why this collagen cream works: science at the service of nature

Beetroot is rich in vitamin C, which is essential for activating the enzyme prolyl hydroxylase – which you need to form stable collagen fibers. It also contains betacyanins, which inhibit inflammation and protect skin cells from free radicals. Flaxseeds complement the effect with their high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to increase skin elasticity and reduce transepidermal moisture loss.

Rose water acts as a natural toner, soothing irritated skin and balancing its pH, while also having mild antibacterial properties. Almond oil is an ancient ingredient that softens and regenerates the skin with vitamins A, D and E. Jojoba oil is almost identical in composition to human sebum, which means it moisturizes perfectly without clogging pores - ideal for oily and combination skin.

Adding vitamin E to the mix provides a powerful antioxidant that protects cell membranes and extends the shelf life of the product. Glycerin acts as a humectant, binding moisture from the environment to the upper layer of the skin, while rosehip oil provides a natural source of retinol (vitamin A), which stimulates cell renewal and reduces age spots.

How to use the cream to achieve the best results?

Every evening after thoroughly cleansing your face, apply a small amount of cream to your face and neck. Massage in an upward motion using circular motions – this won't stop aging, but it will at least give it a little nudge. Let your skin absorb the cream on its own, without rushing. Although the beetroot scent may seem… distinctive to some, don't let it put you off – the effect is what counts. In the morning, rinse the cream off with lukewarm water and apply a sunscreen – UV rays are the biggest enemies of collagen, no matter how miraculous your cream is.

Conclusion: Homemade cosmetics are not a compromise – they are a decision

If you thought effectiveness always had to be associated with a high price and exotic ingredients, this night cream will pleasantly surprise you. It's the result of a clever formulation that you can make yourself at home, while also giving you complete control over what you put on your skin. This isn't just beauty - it's power. And if anyone tells you that homemade can't be professional, show them your glowing skin (and the recipe).
