Formafantasma, furniture made from Etna volcano lava

Studio Formafantasma uses materials in furniture that we often don't even think about. Like, for example... cooled lava. Would you dare with volcanic furniture?

The studio used basalt, an igneous rock formed when basaltic lava cools rapidly. Their series contains lava, resulting from the eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily on November 20, 2013. The lava left behind surfaces covered with black clay materials that were skilfully used in the studio Formaphantasma and carved geometric furniture. They added more brass elements and thus made tables and chairs, which they named De Natura Fossilium.
They are around the elements wrapped ropes, not only for sustainability, but with this they added another one design element.
