On November 20, 1813, Fran Miklošič was born in Radomerščak in Slovenske gorice.
This year we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth. Miklošič's work in the field of linguistics was already appreciated by his contemporaries. Thus, Ivan Navratil wrote in the Slovene Calendar for the ordinary year 1854: "What sane Slovene does not know this famous name - the name of the learned Slavic linguist, whose great learning is known throughout Slovenia and all of Europe, and whom we proudly count among our compatriots!" And further: "Miklošič's works were not only beneficial to Slavic languages, but to all Indo-Germanic languages." In the January showcase, we will exhibit Miklošič's scientific publications, as well as Slovenian reading materials for upper secondary school grades, and we will also draw attention to his censorship work.
