The most trendy bikes for free city rides

This season's trends range from classic bikes with a modern twist to cute Dutch, sophisticated British, comfortable Californian and cool "fixie" styles. We also looked for slightly more unusual trendy bikes, such as a modern rickshaw, a tricycle, a "halfbike", a wooden DIY and a bicycle recycled from waste.

Madam Spring has also officially arrived, which opens the season of relaxed sunny gatherings and wanderings through the fragrant atmosphere of fresh flowers. And what could be a greater pleasure than going into the heart of the urban pulse freely on a bicycle!

1. Ice cream cone

A Los Angeles company Peace Bicycles has created a bike in classic Dutch style mixed with the comfort of a typical American beach cruiser. Dressed in ice cream colors with vintage details it is The Dreamer available in two models – "Step Thru" and "Straight Bar" they are perfect for pleasant rides around town.

2. Unusual convenience

With a vision to change the perception of urban mobility and bring the solution of a compact means of transport was made Halfbike. It's about completely a new way of personal transportation without a seat with a tall handlebar and small wheels, making it somewhere between running and cycling. Its lightweight aluminum frame and compactness make it perfect for daily rambles and long trips.

3. A wooden wheel from a box

A recognized brand Pedalfactory launched a new model Sandwichbikes, wooden wheel, which we simply assemble it ourselves in 30 minutes. The package, created in Germany, thus contains the basic tool and 19 components, including two connecting plates made of beech wood for the frame and aluminum parts.

4. In two

Eclipseit is a version of the modern rickshaw, which is a Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue wrapped in a veil of sophistication. The frame is made of aluminum together with an interlaced round shell made of recycled polyethylene, which forms a kind of carriage covered with a protective acrylic sheet. What makes the Eclipse "rickshaw" even more unique is that modern equipment, such as a sound system, an iPhone charging station, a cup holder, a fan and side curtains for extra privacy when needed.

5. Fashion cuteness

Designer Lorenzo Martone upgraded his lifelong passion for bicycles with a company Martone Cycling Co., which brings city bikes with a bold fashion message. The first collection is thus available in women's or men's models and in five colors: red, gold, white, silver and black. Common seal, as a kind of brand signature, are red chain and basket. In addition to all this, Martone bikes also contain innovative duomatic gear system.

6. A small urban authority

Elian Veltman from the studio Minute Cycles is Asian inspired "mini veil" created a small, nimble and incredibly durable bike thanks to the resistant steel. The dimensions of the handmade driver are lighter and more ergonomic to drive, while you still can reaches relatively high speeds.

7. Sustainable hybrid

As part of the project Monash University Art Design&Architecture it's in melbourne Mark Richardson developed modular system and from waste reused components, which can be used together with 3D printed parts themselves let's assemble into the bike FAB Velo. It brings with it an alternative approach to production.

8. Artistic sophistication

Czech brand Festa brings a handmade carbon fiber bike, decorated with illustrations by Tomski & Polanski. In an artistically sophisticated style, there is a bicycle Zero so suitable for urban driving or off-track.

9. Fixie delight

Slovenian online cycling boutique Pici Bici, fully consecrated genuine cool "fixiem", among other things, this season presents a classic city bike with a modern twist Bombtrack Oxbridge. Geometry high quality minimalist slim frame is designed for more dynamic driving, making urban "cruising" an addictive pleasure.

10. Alfa Romeo on two wheels

Brand collaboration Alfa Romeo and Compagnia Ducale produced a cycling masterpiece IFD 4C, which is produced in a limited series. The lightweight carbon fiber frame of the fluid lines is thus dedicated in all its style to the famous Alfa Romeo car model 4C Roadster.

11. Retro fever

Swedish architect Per-Olof Kippel under the brand name Standard Highwheeles revives again vintage tall bike with a huge tall front wheel that can we customize – the bigger it is, the faster we will drive. Penny Farther thus, in a modern spirit, it embodies the classics of stainless steel, a leather seat and a polished horn and pedals.

12. Flawless elegance

A brand with a long tradition of bicycle manufacturing Cooper Bikes will charm this spring with the model Single Speed, in which she connected with the Hackett design team. In a flawless design with Brooks Swift seats and Brooks with mustard colored leather handles so elegant combines the classics of impeccable British styling and engineering.

13. Crocodile wilderness

The concept of operation of the Parisian Watch Life with Curiosity (WLWC) is to request mass produced and generic items back for reissue like individual and unique pieces. They also created in this spirit fixed-gear bicycle, dressed in a truly unusual disguise – crocodile skin, which they managed to obtain from mass industry, and reuse it. More than 90 hours of work brought a stunning bike to the worth just under 15,000 euros with a lightweight black crocodile-look aluminum frame, carbon fiber seat, hand-made titanium brakes and custom-made pedals.

14. Robust minimalism

Hungarian designer under the name Kisszsombor he created urban minimalist "cruiser" Kzs Cycle. The basic idea was to design model of 2D lines with 3D shapes and transform flat design into a useful object. It features unique components, a phosphorescent (glow in the dark) rectangular frame and fork, as well as wooden cranks, seat and pedals, expressing both movement and stability.
