Brussels sprouts
Due to the cooler climate, Brussels sprouts do not have such a distinctly bitter taste at this time. Tara O'Brady recommends choosing the most vibrantly colored Brussels sprouts and quickly sautéing them in a pan with sesame oil, garlic and soy sauce.
Carrots
The season of root crops and tubers is the right time to stock the pantry with carrots and turnips. You can easily prepare them in soup or fry them.
Cranberries
Cranberries, rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, not only prevent inflammation of the urinary tract, but are suitable for sauces with vegetables and meat as well as for the preparation of sweets and bread. Last but not least, you can soak them in alcohol; they go very well with gin or vodka.
Lieut
Roasted leeks go perfectly with eggs, and leek soup will be especially nice on colder evenings. The best is the one with light green leaves and as white a root part as possible.

Onion
Onions are healthier in autumn and winter than at the beginning of the year. Tara O'Brady says that in the colder season, it has a thicker and darker "skin" and is therefore firmer and contains less water, which is why it is also suitable for longer cooking. Thinly sliced can be fried next to meat or caramelized, which will add flavor to any sauce.
