Fujifilm X100V: extraordinary power in a retro guise

Fujifilm X100V camera

The Fujifilm X100V is definitely one of the best compact cameras ever. It boasts a bunch of features that are also found in professional models.

Fujifilm has already introduced two new cameras in 2020, and at the same time there are already rumors of a third. But let's go in order. It is a new acquisition in the world of retro cameras X100V. A case of 5th generation X100 series, and she got it many welcome upgrades. Improved chassis, interface, camera operation and lens. If we start with the case, this has changed from magnesium to aluminum and acquired on water resistance. We are only surprised by the fact that fixed lens it does not have the same water resistance as the case and therefore needs a separate adapter to protect it from rain.

Although it's not waterproof per se, thankfully the 23mm f/2 lens will by no means disappoint. The results of the improved optics are like night and day compared to the previous model, and the sharpness has not only improved in the center, but the edges of the photos will also be very sharp. But the photos wouldn't be as sharp if he wasn't the focusing system has also been improved. This one is much faster and he can also find the eyes (also with video). Sharpens well even in dark situations. Fujifilm has added more to the X100V model much sharper external screen, which can tilt, and hybrid peephole, which optionally switches between an optical or electronic shutter.

26.1 MP resolution sensor is the same as in the X-T3, as are the various filters for more artistic photos. The X100V also offers HDR photography option, just like on a smartphone, only in much better quality. Videographers will be happy, because the reliable autofocus is a pleasure to work with, but the X-T3 model will still offer some more features (for example, internal 10-bit video recording). But the X100V is not primarily intended for recording, although it can certainly do that. It is a high-quality "compact" for the pocket, with a large sensor and an excellent fixed lens, which will be able to capture exceptional photos of everyday events. But the price is around 1,500 euros placed alongside the X-T3 model, which allows changing lenses. The X100V model will on sale at the end of February.
