The novel Animal Farm, published by George Orwell in August 1945 after several failed attempts, has long been read as a critique of Stalin's totalitarianism, but in fact the model fits any totalitarianism, even the current plutocracy. The following questions arise: Is a positive utopia even possible? What can we offer young people as an alternative, if every system can degenerate into a version of totalitarianism? Is it necessary to offer them a ready-made system, or is it better to instill values in them while constantly warning them of possible mistakes? If they recognize the present in the past and learn for the future, are we on the right track to a better tomorrow?
