If years ago we dreamed of bulky luxury villas with swimming pools, home theaters and garages, in the last few years, thanks to the hippie vagabond trend, we have apparently become more modest, as more and more people choose to live in small but environmentally friendly houses. The Galiano 100 is a perfect example.
Galiano 100 it's not just 10 square meter house on the island, but also carries an important message - galliano or oh namely in Hawaiian it means family, and the house is actually made for newly married couple Kris and Alicia Alexander.
When carrying out the project, the architects faced many problems, as the couple requested a house, 10 square meters and 5 meters high. As they themselves said, they made it difficult for the architects, because they were only given a bunch of photos with the elements they wanted to have in the house, and their task was to make somehow they put together a lovely home. Fortunately, they did, as Kris and Alicia say they did got exactly that, what they wanted.
Even if the cottage seems extremely small, inside we find the kitchen, wood burning stove, living room, bathroom, the bedroom, terrace, firewood storage and an outdoor shower. It consists of two levels (downstairs is the kitchen and living room; upstairs is the bedroom), which are connected by giant windows. This one optically increase the space, but at the same time they create connection with exterior.
A small porch consists of three parts, namely there is an outdoor shower, a barbecue and a storage room for firewood. It is located a few meters away from the house pier, on which there is also a jacuzzi and a sofa, which are perfect for enjoying warm summer nights.
The house is not only cute because of its small size, it also offers magical view of Vancouver and enables coexistence with nature (especially the forest). We would defend ourselves against such "disconnected" life?
