On the 100th anniversary of Ivan Cankar's death, a large annual co-production in Cankarjev dom will stage his farce, which teaches us that nothing can ever change and that it is even possible to laugh at this realization. The arrival of the artist Peter upsets the 'chaste' Šentflorians; the blessed valley has nothing to do with cultivating artists and other practitioners. But when Peter plays on their bad conscience, they quickly fall to their knees, and even Zlodej gives up on them.
If you were to choose the prettiest place in Slovenia today, the Šentflorjanska Valley would certainly take one of the first places. God-fearing St. Florianians know that a good reputation reaches the ninth village, and a bad reputation reaches the ninth land. When foreigners descend on their valley, the locals close ranks and stand up for decency. One of the newcomers is a nebodigreba - an artist who comes accompanied by the lustful Jacinta and the eccentric Konkordate.
Ivan Cankar, whose we commemorate the centenary of his death in 2018, wrote prophetically in Tales from the Šentflorjanska Valley: "You will not forget me either, beautiful Šentflorjanska Valley." You can turn away from me offended, you can leave me alone by the road, a traveler; and I lie in the grass and laugh and wait because I know you will recover. Because I am in you and you are in me.”
Directed by: Eduard Miller; they play: Uroš Smolej, Maša Kagao Knez, Primož Pirnat, Iva Krajnc Bagola, Lotos Vincenc Šparovec, Maša Derganc, Jana Zupančič, Igor Samobor et al.
