Until November 26 this year, you have the opportunity to witness the extraordinary sculptures created by the Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn. Two giant hands, made for the Art Biennale 2017, pray from the canal and support the walls of the Hotel Ca' Segredo. The two sculptures draw attention to the effects of global warming.
Quinn, who is known for depicting parts of the body, wanted to illustrate with these hands a force of nature, which supports structures along the canal, but at the same time shows how destructive or nature is stronger. This is what he wanted to show the fragility of our environment and how little we are aware of it.
The hands were made in an unnamed studio, hidden from the public eye, and represented a considerable logistical transport burden. Excursion to Venice is always on the bucket list, but now you might have one more reason to visit a city on the water.
