Golden Easter eggs bring luck and money – make the gold color with a natural ingredient from your kitchen

Every spring brings with it a magical period, when the smell of ham mingles with the smell of freshly dyed eggs, and when kitchen tables transform into artist's studios for a few days. But while most housewives swear by the classics every year – red, blue and marble – there is one color that always stands out: gold. Not only does it look prestigious and elegant, but according to folk tradition it is said to bring luck, abundance and even – we hear whispers of legends – greater financial prosperity to the home. Who would have thought that golden eggs would be the ones that would manifest a higher salary?

And if you thought that for such shine you need to buy special colors, artificial sprays or at least take a creative class, we have good news for you: you can achieve the perfect golden hue with a single natural ingredient that you almost certainly already have in your kitchen. Forget complicated recipes and chemical dyes - this time you will dye with a spice that not only brightens up risottos, but also turns out to be an unexpected star of the Easter holidays.

Easter is a time of symbolism, new beginnings and – why not – a little magic. So this year, don’t just wrap your Easter eggs in colors, but in a story. Let them be golden, let them shine brightly on the table and let them carry the message: happiness is at home. And sometimes that happiness can be created with just a pot of boiling water and a pinch of turmeric.

What do you need for gold color magic?

  • 20 grams turmeric
  • 800ml boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon of alcoholic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Turmeric—that miracle spice that colors everything it touches (including kitchen counters, hands, and clothes, so: be careful!)—is your key to perfect golden eggs.

How to create Easter eggs worthy of a royal table?

  1. First boil the eggs in water with a pinch of salt. Once it boils, cook them for another 7–8 minutes on low heat.
  2. Cool them in cold water – yes, cold water is not only for a nicer skin, but also for calm nerves.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the golden bath: add turmeric, vinegar and salt to boiling water. Mix well (ideal moment for Indian aromatherapy).
  4. Dip the eggs into the mixture and let stand for at least 90 minutes. If you want a more intense shade – don't rush anything. Let them wait. Gold takes its time.

Stir occasionally to ensure the color is evenly distributed – unless you’re aiming for a “vintage ombre” look, which is, by the way, perfectly acceptable in 2025.

And voilà!

Your eggs will look red carpet ready (or at least Instagram story ready) after this bath. Shiny, natural, and with a touch of tradition. Plus, the energy will flow more freely according to feng shui – because, as the old saying goes: happiness comes first on the table.

So, try something different this year. Let the industrial dyes take a vacation and breathe a little sunshine into your Easter eggs. And if anyone asks you how you dyed them – just say, “With a little turmeric and a lot of style.”

Instagram Moment Tip: Place golden eggs in nests made of dried grass, add some greenery and voilà – an Easter card ready for likes.
