Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for it after visiting a celebration in honor of dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Harlem. So he stopped the chorus, in which he presents the best singers and musicians from Harlem and other New York black churches.
Their performance is dynamic, and with it they try to approximate the African-American culture that is woven into gospel music, better known as devotional music, which is characteristic of churches in the United States. The slogan of each of their performances is bringing people and nations together.
Their songs hope they touch everyone and elevate them to angelic heights. They are something original, as many want to imitate them, but only the Harlem Gospel Choir manages to truly reflect the mighty spirit of gospel.
