This hair care ingredient has taken social media crazy, so here's how to do the trick yourself.
Aloe vera, known for its natural healing properties, is an ingredient that has been used in skin care for centuries. And now, thanks to social networks, it has become an important ingredient for hair and scalp care. The beauty trend that has taken social media by storm is definitely not about hair (ironic, right?). Many brands take advantage of the benefits of aloe vera in hair care. Thus, they create various shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and treatments with a high content of this ingredient. It is aloe vera with more than 95% water content an excellent natural moisturizer that makes hair shiny, soft and supple. It is also said to help protect and strengthen your hair by being rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene and vitamins C and E, which nourish and strengthen your hair.
Many beauty enthusiasts, including a hair care influencer @jonathankmonroe, recently shared videos on how to make a homemade hair mask using the gel and fleshy parts of aloe vera. This is supposed to stimulate hair growth, prevent scalp itching, reduce dandruff and nourish hair. The #aloever key, however, has amassed an impressive 655 million views.

Jonathan begins the video by cutting an aloe vera leaf into three pieces before taking the middle section and scraping the gel into a bowl. This is then whipped with a whisk and applied to the hair and scalp. Aloe vera contains enzymes that regenerate dead skin cells on the scalp, which should help stimulate hair growth and also act as a balm for smooth and shiny hair.

Interestingly, aloe vera gel is applied from root to tip with a brush, instead of massaging it with your hands. This allows the gel to absorb into the scalp and really penetrate the hair. Monroe recommends letting the aloe vera gel work about an hour before rinsing and washing hair. She says the result is shiny, healthy hair. You can also use aloe vera in combination with rice water to promote hair growth.
