Company Hisense became a project partner A chain of good people. With a donation of 20,000 euros, they supported the digital literacy of families in need. In this way, they will make it possible to carry out workshops, as part of which families living in poverty will be equipped with basic and absolutely necessary digital competences, which are necessary for proper inclusion in today's society. Also, the Association of Friends of Youth (ZPM) Ljubljana Moste-Polje, which implements the Chain of Good People project, will hand over smart TVs. These will help in working with the most vulnerable in their holiday homes and in the Multigenerational Center Skupna točka.
Overcoming adversity and social exclusion with digital skills
Hisense will support with a donation the workshops that will be held within the framework of the Chain of Good People project for children and parents to make it easier to use digital tools; browsing the Internet for information on exercising rights from public funds, learning the basics of digital communication (using the Internet and writing electronic messages), using tools for preparing school materials (seminar assignments, presentations). Parents will also be taught about the safe use of technology among children. In this way they will help prevent hardship and social exclusion, to which the lack of basic digital skills and the excessive use of technology also contribute.
Grateful to be part of such an important project
"At Hisense, we strive to develop advanced technologies and innovative solutions that would improve lives. We are proud that, in cooperation with ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje, we can contribute to the fact that families in need will acquire basic digital skills, which are necessary for successful integration and functioning in today's society. It is important to do our best to help families in need and to give back to society in this way, so we are grateful to be a partner of such an important project as the Chain of Good People." said Alenka Potočnik Anžič, director of marketing at Hisense Europe Group, on this occasion.
Poverty today is more than just hunger
Digital literacy it is one of the very important lifelong competences that help us to successfully integrate into today's society and to live in it better and easier. Unfortunately, there are many families in our country who live in poverty - and poverty today is much more than just hunger. Anita Ogulin, president of the Association of Friends of the Youth of Ljubljana Moste-Polje, points out the importance of education and functional competence to break the cycle of poverty. The situation with the coronavirus has greatly increased the need for digital communication in everyday life in a short period of time. "During the duration of the epidemic, the migration of schooling, work and other social activities to the virtual world and the Internet represented a great hardship for many families. In the Chain of Good People, we always gave advice to families, provided computer equipment and arranged internet connections, etc. We are happy that, with the help of the Hisense company, we will be able to continue to offer help to families in the field of developing functional competences and digital literacy, as a lack of understanding of the use of technology and ignorance contribute to increasing hardships, especially social exclusion."
