For everyone who has always wanted to hear first hand what groove jazz sounds like under the fingers of top musicians, attending the concert of the trio Medeski Martin & Wood is practically mandatory. The trio consists of keyboardist John Medeski, drummer Billy Martin and bassist Chris Wood. The trio was formed in the early nineties in New York's Brooklyn area under the name DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). With their music, they wanted to express their personality, both individually and collectively. The trio began to experiment with modern hip-hop rhythms, which can be as much swing as from the jazz tradition. At their core, guys remain simple and propulsive. Thus, they provide space for the creation of hypnotic textures and sounds that are bursting with improvisation and harmony. They are considered a group that has great stage energy. It promises excellent and unforgettable concerts. They have already proven this to the enthusiastic audience of the Ljubljana Jazz Festival four years ago at a performance with guitarist John Scofield. Last year they impressed with the reinterpretation of Zorn's Book of Angels. This time they return to their basic trio line-up with an iron repertoire from legendary albums such as Shack-Man, The Dropper, End Of The World Party, Combustication and many others. They say that in the history of man, musical recordings are like a blink of an eye - a very small part of a huge history.
