Costume design forms a very large part of any theater performance, where our eyes are fixed on each individual actor on stage. It's the same with movies, where the theater stage replaces the screen. We cannot imagine the story of the film without costume design.
Probably every passionate movie lover remembers some of them well outstanding film characters, which especially remained in our memory because of the special costume design that built theirs iconic image. The costume alone tells us a lot about the character, without the character even speaking. Films thus not only reflect fashion past or future tense, but sometimes also direct.
