Wondering how intelligent you are? Find out with the help of these signs.

How intelligent are you really? We all remember classmates who diligently collected excellent grades in school. These children were particularly clever, perhaps even intelligent. But figuring out whether you're smart isn't usually a job for your school teacher or your doctor. The best way to find out your intelligence test intelligenceIQ test. But there are also individual signs that roughly signal that we are dealing with an intelligent person.

Openness of mind

Individuals with higher intelligence generally tend to be more open to new experiences and ideas. A 2016 study that followed 5,000 people for more than 50 years found that children with high intelligence remained open to new ideas well into adulthood. Intelligent people enjoy learning, so they often look for new challenges—something that helps their minds keep evolving.

They are not narrow-minded

People with high intelligence are able to think about information other than from their own perspective. This is a popular psychological term known as “reframing”—trying to look at a problem from a different perspective in order to find a solution.

A mess

No one says that a person with a high IQ has a cluttered office, but multiple studies have shown that people with high intelligence tend to have more cluttered homes.

Sleep late

Research has also linked high intelligence with going to bed late. This may not be ideal for your physical health, but it may explain why you're still awake while the rest of the neighborhood is fast asleep.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be a sign of a high level of intelligence. A 2015 report examining generalized anxiety disorder and depression found that verbal intelligence in individuals was associated with a greater tendency to worry or ruminate.

The need for solitude

Having a high level of intelligence does not mean that you are a complete loner. But research has shown that people with high intelligence know how to enjoy the company of themselves. A 2016 study found that people with high IQs were less satisfied when they hung out with friends frequently.
