Check the label; often faux fur coats or jackets are machine washable. Turn the coat or jacket inside out, put it in the washing machine on the wool program at 30 degrees with a mild detergent. After the coat or jacket has air dried, gently brush the faux fur with a natural brush or pet brush.

How to clean a leather jacket or coat?

Check the label, but it's usually recommended that leather pieces be dry cleaned once a year. Remove stains with a solution of rubbing alcohol and water, vinegar and water, or lemon juice and water, then use a glycerine solution to soften the material. Never immerse leather items in water.

How to clean a wool, tweed and cashmere coat?

It is best to take a coat made of these materials to the cleaners at least once a year, but you can also take care of the maintenance yourself. After each wear, brush your woolen coat, hang it on a quality wooden hanger, empty your pockets, don't wrinkle it, and don't stuff it into a tight closet. Remove minor stains with a damp cloth without aggressive scrubbing to avoid damaging the material.
