Although many vulcanizers, as Spaniard, offer the possibility of storing tires, many people keep tires at home. The first and biggest sin of car owners is keeping the tires in the boiler room, which is a fatal mistake, so make sure the tires don't 'winterize' near a heat source (pipes, generators, furnaces...).
How to properly store tires? Tips for proper tire storage:
- clean tires well before storage and remove mud, pebbles and other 'foreign bodies' from the profile
- the room should be dark, ventilated, dry and clean, protected from direct light (UV rays affect the structure of the rubber) and the weather
- keep them away from chemicals, solvents, sharp objects and materials that have an electrical charge
- do not place heavy objects on top of the tires as this may cause deformation
- if the tires are stacked on top of each other, change their order monthly
- it is best if you keep them at a 75 degree angle as the side of the tires is very strong
- if you keep them in a vertical position, they should be at least 10 centimeters above the ground (rotate them from time to time to prevent distortion)
- if the tire rests on the ground, it is not recommended to store them in a vertical position, as they will sag under their own weight during the months of non-use
- if you store tires on rims, store them in a vertical position and rotate and check the air pressure monthly
- store them in special bags for car tires
- if you place the 'bare' tires on the floor, they should be clean, i.e. free of oil and petrol stains
