There is a surprising phobia that many people have or have, but we are not aware of it. It's called hylophobia.
There can be a forest in fairy tales and movies the scariest place in the world (just think Dire Wolf and Blair Witch). But even when we grow up, most of us still shudder at the thought of being in the woods we lose and are thus at the mercy of criminals. But for some people, even a short walk in the forest can turn into a horror movie, where fictional characters play the main role wild animals and serial killers, which are hiding behind every tree.
As you can tell, hylophobia is therefore a fear of forests. We also know her as xylophobia, fear of the forest and trees, but they are also very close dendrophobia, fear of trees and so on nyctochylophobia, fear of wooded areas at night. Many people are so scared to death of walking in the forest, especially at night, because they have the feeling that they someone or something is watching and that this unknown thing might even attack. If you also feel distressed when you go out into the woods, then you most certainly have hylophobia too.
