The sparrows on the branches are already chirping that our planet is facing problems, including pollution. We seem to know how to draw attention to this in all possible creative ways. Well, maybe it is precisely the creative way that will push us forward. At Taiwan's Faculty of Arts, three students came up with a way to show the problem of Earth pollution. They called it "Polluted Water Popsicles" or "Polluted Water Lollipops".
Hung I Chen, Guo Ji Hui and Cheng Ju Ti collected water samples from hundreds different locations in Taiwan, frozen and stored in polyester resin. At a glance like this, lollipops look completely ordinary, they have an attractive shape and we could quickly become addicted to them. Well, when we take a closer look at them, we can quickly wince, because they are swimming inside silt, pieces of plastic, bottle caps etc. They also designed imaginative packages on which they wrote serial number of the sample water and the name of the river, stream or lakes, where it comes from. Shock therapy, you could say.
The project was nominated for the Young Pin Design Award and became part of the New Generation of Design exhibition at the World Trade Center in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
