Did you even know you can spend the night in the 'Ice Kingdom'? Yes, since 1989. It's not called like the popular cartoon, but Icehotel. This year, the 28th version of the hotel was put on display, as it gets a new look every winter. Wondering what it looks like this year?
Icehotel stands in the Swedish village of Jukkasjärvi, in the very north of this Scandinavian country.
The Torne river flows past the village, from which they are already in March started taking away the ice for this year Icehotel no. 28. What 500 tons of ice were necessary to create works of art such as they are ice glasses and ice chapel. For ice chandeliers in the main room they used just 1000 hand cut ice crystals. It was included in the work 36 artists from all over the world who needed several weeks for their artworks.
They are in the hotel ice suites, which this year are decorated with ice sculptures in the form of primeval forest, mountain gorillas, queen of the north and clouds.
The ice melts in the summer and the water flows back where it came from, into the Torne River. Then you can vacation in Hotel 365, which fortunately will not melt.
The price per night starts at 250 euros, and reaches up to 850 euros.
