Do you have condensation on your windows in the winter? Spray this in the evening and the window will be dry in the morning - a trick you'll do every winter

Shaving foam eliminates condensation on windows - this sounds like nonsense. Until it becomes clear why it has been used for decades on car windows, especially on the inside of the windshield, where the view must remain clear in all conditions. The same principle works on windows in the apartment.

What to use for condensation on windows? Foggy windows are a common problem in the colder months, when warm, humid air in a room meets cold glass. Tiny droplets begin to collect on the surface, which is not only an aesthetic inconvenience, but can also cause mold, frame damage and unpleasant odor.

Condensation is a natural phenomenon and is not a sign of poor hygiene or inadequate maintenance. Moisture in the air is produced during completely normal activities such as cooking, showering, drying laundry and even breathing. If the room is not sufficiently ventilated, moisture remains trapped and accumulates most quickly on the coldest surfaces – these are usually windows.

Why do windows fog up?

When warm air saturated with moisture comes into contact with a cold glass surface, the moisture turns into dropsThis process is more pronounced in the elderly or poorly insulated windows, which cool down faster.

Prolonged presence of moisture can damages window frames and creates favorable conditions for mold development.

Shaving foam – a simple trick with an unexpected effect for condensation on windows

Among the many tips for reducing condensation, there is also a surprisingly simple solution – using shaving foamDue to its composition, it creates a thin, almost invisible protective layer on the glass, which reduces the adhesion of water droplets. As a result, condensation is more difficult to retain on the surface.

The same procedure has long been used in car windows, especially on the inside of the windshield, where it helps prevent fogging and improves visibility in cold and humid weather.

Condensation on windows: How to use shaving foam correctly

The glass must be thoroughly cleaned and dry before application. Apply a small amount of foam to a soft cloth and spread it evenly over the surface. Then wipe the glass dry until no visible marks remain.

It remains on the glass thin protective film, which reduces condensation. The effect usually lasts for several days, depending on the humidity level and ventilation of the room.

What this method can do – and what it can’t do

It is important to understand, however, that it does not eliminate the cause of the dampness, but only reduces the visible consequences. Regular ventilation, adequate heating and good insulation remain key to long-term improvement of the situation.

Shaving foam doesn't work on glass because it "drys the air," but because it changes the surface of the glass. Moisture can no longer collect in droplets on such a surface—and that's the difference between a trick that just masks a problem and one that actually changes its course.
