Get ready to serve your next IKEA meatballs with more style than you ever dared to dream of. IKEA has joined forces with Swedish designer Gustaf Westman – and the result? The first piece from a new design collection: a porcelain plate designed specifically to serve the North’s biggest culinary celebrity – the meatball.

The entire 12-piece collection, designed to reinterpret the modern celebration of home, will be revealed on September 9. Until then, here's what we can expect: IKEA meatballs will finally get their own stage. And no, that's not a metaphor - that's an actual plate.

IKEA meatballs – a global superstar

Meatball It's not just a dish - it's a cultural institution. IKEA launched it into the world decades ago, and since then, it's been sold around the world every year. one billion. Yes, you read that right – one billion. That many people can't be wrong, right?

Over time, the meat repertoire has expanded – there are also plant-based, vegetable, chicken and even salmon balls. And all of them – without exception – fit on Westman's new plate. Form follows function, but in the style of the Instagram generation.

When meatballs take the throne

“We’ve always believed that even the little things in life – like a perfectly round Swedish meatball – deserve a lot of attention,” says Maria O’Brian, creative director at IKEA of Sweden. “This collaboration focuses on reimagining home gatherings – through playful and unexpected designs.”

Translated: forget boring plates. The new porcelain beauty is designed to elegantly line up meatballs, as if they were on a parade. The plate is aimed at meatballs, but in true Swedish practicality - you can also easily place olives, cheeses, fruit or sweets on it. In short, every bite becomes the star of the evening.

Minimalism with character

Gustaf Westman, known for his playful approach to design, says: “I love creating objects for a specific function – I bring a touch of humor and intuition to it. In Sweden, meatballs mean Christmas, and this plate is my homage to that tradition.”

The design is simple but effective: the balls are arranged like little queens on their thrones. And although the inspiration was meatballs, the plate can easily handle trendy cranberry tartlets or minimalist sushi art.

What's next?

The plate is just the first creation revealed from the collaboration between IKEA and Gustaf Westman. The full collection of tableware and decorative items will be unveiled on September 9. Sales will begin gradually in different markets – so we recommend that you set your alarm.

A tip for your next brunch? Meatballs, a Westman plate, and catwalk-worthy lighting. Because that's what the meatballs—and you—deserve.
