Ikea regularly refreshes its product range, but a careful eye has noticed that one product does not disappear from their range and catalog - the Poäng armchair. The armchair by Japanese designer Nobora Nakamura is celebrating its venerable 40 years these days. It is Ikea's best-selling armchair. Even today, every year Ikea sells as many as 1.5 million units. Do you have it at home too?
Have you heard of Poäng? Probably not. You've probably seen it before. A case of Ikea's best-selling armchair in history with 40 years of experience. Since 1976, Ikea has produced over 30 million copies and still sells 1.5 million of them every year. Not bad for a chair of antediluvian but eternal design. And why is Poäng such a commercial success and a timeless icon?

The secret lies in the brilliant design. The point is durable, stylish and comfortable. The 'U' design makes it easy a lull that relaxes. Over time, the armchair received only cosmetic corrections, mainly at the expense of longer durability and price. Most of the time, they changed hands upholstery pattern and color.
The biggest change is the armchair, which at first heard the name Poem and he designed it Noboru Nakamura - he joined Ikea in 1973 and left it in 1978 to found his own furniture company -, experienced in 1992, when it's replaced the metal construction with a wooden one. The armchair has also become slightly narrower, but at the expense of this, it has also become much cheaper. In the same year, it was renamed from Poem to Poäng.
In honor of the 40-year-old, Ikea released new framework and added six new prints.
