The new STOCKHOLM 40th anniversary collection features 96 timeless pieces of Scandinavian elegance – from velvet sofas to hand-blown vases and chandeliers with a retro touch. And yes, white assembly gloves are included.

This year, IKEA isn’t just celebrating four decades of its iconic STOCKHOLM collection – it’s putting it on a pedestal. In the 2025 edition, the collection reaches its pinnacle: 96 pieces of furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories that prove with every stitch and fiber that it’s possible to combine high aesthetics, sustainable materials and affordable price. Let’s just say it: STOCKHOLM 2025 is IKEA at its best.

Scandinavian design with soul (and character)

The STOCKHOLM collection has maintained its identity through eight editions: modern Scandinavian design, uncompromising quality and a price that won't bring tears to your eyes. This year's, ninth edition, goes one step further - or rather, ninety-six steps further.

The focus is on natural materials that not only look good but also age beautifully – like good Swedish cheese (although IKEA swears by meatballs). Solid wood, linen, wool, leather and hand-woven rattan are the heart of the collection, which puts craftsmanship, texture and touch at the forefront. And if you’re tempted to put the chandelier together with your bare hands – don’t worry, IKEA includes white gloves. Style apparently has its own protocol.

Sofas that don't need "sending"

The collection is led by two diametrically different sofa interpretations, which together set the tone for the entire range.

The first, a modular sofa by designer Ole Wihlborg, comes in four colors—including a deep turquoise velvet that’s just begging for an afternoon nap. It was created in response to the frustration of all of us who fix wrinkled cushions daily. “I wanted a sofa that stayed the way you left it. No extra cushions. No drama,” says Wihlborg, who tested more than 30 prototypes before finding the perfect balance between comfort and form.

On the other hand, Nike Karlsson presents a sofa without foam - yes, you read that right. A solid pine wood frame, natural latex, coconut fiber and intricate weaving - the result is a minimalist yet ultra-comfortable sofa that could easily fit in a Nordic wellness center.

Ratan is back – and in a big way!

Fans of the previous STOCKHOLM 2017 collection will be happy, as rattan is back in style. Karlsson has recreated a sliding door cabinet woven with hand-tied rattan fibers. Rattan is also found in the chair backs and in the structure of the lounge chair, which is complemented by a soft bouclé cushion – perfect for a Saturday reading with a lacquered cup of tea in hand.

Karlsson says: “Despite the name STOCKHOLM, we didn’t limit ourselves to just an urban aesthetic. We drew inspiration from the Swedish forests and archipelagos. And yes, pine can be luxurious too – if you know which one to choose.”

Forest on the carpet and mushrooms on the parasol

Textile designer Paulin Machado brings a true poetics of nature to the collection. Her lampshades are decorated with leaves, mushrooms and color combinations known only to the Scandinavian seasons. The hand-woven rugs made of 100% % wool depict birch patterns and come in a palette of natural colors – from calm green to black and white elegance. A real eye-candy for every home.

Her wool coats and cushion covers come in colours that would make even a Swedish autumn jealous. “Nature is the best designer. Every colour in the forest matches every other – and we wanted to bring that into the homes,” says Machado.

Plates, vases and… love for details

IKEA didn't skimp on the dining area: ceramic plates, porcelain bowls, glazed surfaces that look like they've been hand-painted. And three vases – two blown glass, one black ceramic in an amorphous shape – add a special charm, each with a unique character. Let's face it, every family table needs at least one "wow" moment.
