Ilka Štuhec is one of the most successful Slovenian alpine skiers of all time. She stepped on skis for the first time at the age of two and never looked back.
Committed to success
Although her professional career was thwarted several times by injuries, Ilka Štuhec never gave up and always rose like a phoenix from the ashes. Stronger, more persistent and more determined. This warlike fire, which accompanies her all the time, brought her excellent results on the white slopes. In 2014, she defended the Slovenian colors for the first time at the biggest winter sports competition in the world, and at this year's Olympic competition she was also the proud bearer of the Slovenian flag, an honor that only the best receive.
In addition, Ilka Štuhec achieved a number of others extraordinary milestones. In 2017, she won a gold medal at the World Championships and repeated this success at the 2019 World Championships, becoming the first female skier in 30 years to successfully defend her World Championship title. She also won two small crystal globes, nine World Cup victories and 17 podium finishes in her career.
Although she has been competing at the highest level since 2007, she proved that she is truly something special very early on. She already won three gold medals at the world youth championships, namely in 2007 in slalom and combined and in 2008 in downhill. This one winning mentality followed her throughout her entire career.
