Two stories in a cold gray winter. The first is about a Ukrainian nurse, Olga, who wants more from life. She travels to Austria, where she gets a job as a cleaner in a hospital for the elderly. The second story follows the young Austrian Paul, an unemployed and in-charge security guard, who is taken by his stepfather to Ukraine to install slot machines. Olga and Paul come from different backgrounds, but they struggle with similar problems: they strive to believe in themselves and find meaning in their lives.
