You will meet Andrej Šemrov, curator of medieval, modern and modern numismatics

Economic history begins with the appearance of man, somehow in the 8th century. BC n. š. however, the inhabitants of today's Slovenia used various pre-monetary forms for trading.

In the middle of the 2nd century BC n. no. the Celts also began minting their own money in our area as an expression of economic and political independence. Due to trade, Celtic money was in circulation together with the coins of the Roman Republic. And it was Roman money that was the first global currency that dominated the area of the then-known ancient world until the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 492. After the turbulent period of migration of peoples and the early Middle Ages, the Middle Ages took over the legacy of antiquity, which was carried over into the new century to the modern era, when traditional money is increasingly being replaced by various forms of cashless transactions.
