In the embrace of the Kamnik Alps

Our new experience should be the way nature shows itself; colorful, blooming and vibrant. Let's put on sunglasses, open the windows, turn up the music, dance into the new day and drive out of the gray city into the embrace of nature.

But of course, we don't miss our morning coffee, so first we drive along the market ring road to Domžal. Fragrant coffee will be served to us under the canopy of mighty linden trees that adorn the garden of the Agropub bar, open every day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. On the way, we can stop at the Jurček home-made pastry bakery in Depali village, where we can buy some warm cookies to sweeten in addition to our coffee. Then let's continue to Radomelj, to the Arboretum Volčji potok, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For a walk among thousands of tulips and other flowers during the spring exhibition, which lasts from April 27 to May 6, we will charge 4.20 euros for children and 5.50 euros for adults. In addition to walking among the colorful flower beds, our children will also have fun on the playground and get lost in the maze for a short time, while we will enjoy a refreshing drink in the summer garden, walk to their garden center and flower shop, and finally see the permanent collection sculptures by the renowned sculptor Janez Boljka. We certainly won't be bored, but our journey continues forward towards Kamnik. Kamnik is a town with a varied and interesting past, which was mentioned as a town as early as 1229. It was cosmopolitan for the conditions of the time, as famous noble families visited and lived there. The ruins remind us of the city's history Old and Small Castles, the old town center with narrow streets and many interesting details. It is also the starting point for trips and planning in the nearby Kamniška Alps. A road leads from its center to an idyllic village Tunas, which many people know for the beautiful baroque pilgrimage church of St. Anne and the nearby healing grove. It lies in the middle of a mixed forest, on a plot of land of approximately 10,000 square meters, where there are several energy springs and a well with healing water. A one-hour guided tour of the grove and energy springs takes place every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are also offered the purchase of healing "living water" and natural mud, as well as aura painting.

Walking the purple carpet
Getting to know the colorful faces of nature and its mysterious powers is not the end, because just a short distance from Kamnik, at any time of the year, it enchants us with its beauty Great mountain. This high mountain plateau is the best-preserved pastoral plateau in Europe, which transforms into a snowy fairy tale in the winter, is covered with a colorful carpet of blooming mountain flowers in the spring, and delights us with a rich array of fragrant medicinal herbs in the summer. At the moment, however, its plateaus are the purple color of thousands of saffrons peeking out of the ground. A series of marked paths lead to them: those from the valley Kamniška Bistrica or Black ones they are quite long and therefore more physically demanding. The trails that start on the ridge north of the Črna valley are much friendlier to travelers. From there we can go to Velika planina from the pass A vole or from the Marjanine njiva mountain, and the laziest will of course take advantage of the funicular from the Kamniška Bistrica valley. There are many possible routes, including along its plateau, where you can stop in one of the shepherd's huts for sour milk and brandy, or walk to the church of Maria Snežna and a little further and prepare a picnic yourself on the soft grassy ground. But let's be careful not to crush the mountain flowers, which with their colors make a colorful dress for this rugged mountain.

Afternoon soaking in thermal bubbles
And when the sun slowly begins to lose its power, we descend back into the valley, where the road that takes us through Tuhinjska valley, leads to the youngest and highest Slovenian thermal baths Snovik. Then we quickly put on our bathing suits and swim in one of their thermal pools. Or we prefer to opt for a classic hand massage, lymphatic drainage, reflex foot massage, solarium or sauna. The choice is wide, but the decision is definitely ours. But this time you can't make a wrong decision, because any treatment will pleasantly relax every muscle and ensure that we leave their wellness center satisfied and relaxed. They will also provide culinary delights in their Potočka restaurant, which is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Although the restaurant's specialty is trout dishes, they can cater for all tastes. There are two menus available every day, but we can also choose a la carte dishes. And when we think about where we've been today and what we've experienced, our heads are spinning from all the beautiful things, so we rush back home with a smile on our faces.
