Anyone who has been to Katarina nad Ljubljana at least once knows the Pr Jur inn. The official name is Pri turistu, but everyone has always known her by her native name. Owners Jani Kršinar and his wife Neva say that the 250-year-old inn is the oldest in Katarina. Jani is a former national champion and Olympian in cross-country skiing, so when we enter the inn, we are greeted by a bunch of interesting photos and medals. The smell of beef soup fills the room and invites us to warm up by the bread oven. Jani and Neva did not enlarge the space, as they wanted to preserve the intimacy and homeliness of a real village inn. The culinary offer is also homemade. "You won't get seafood or pizza here,” says Neva. That's why, in the winter, homemade kolina with cabbage, blood sausage, and roast beef will be on the menu. Homemade mushroom and beef soup, venison dishes, veal stew, žganci, and ricette are always on offer. They also prepare dishes to order. It can be sweetened with apple, cheese struklji, wraps and potica, and warmed up with homemade honey, blueberry or lemon brandy. The owner also has a great love for flowers, which have become the trademark of the inn, and in the warm months many hikers come to see what Neva has prepared this year. Another reason to climb Katarina and eat Pr Jur.
