The international co-production between Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Slovenia comes to us with only two iterations.
Conquering Happiness travels from the premiere in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, through the legendary bridge in Mostar to an abandoned industrial building in Ljubljana... Theater and dance performance under the tutelage of a Bosnian director Haris Pašović considered avant-garde, bold and unexpected. The play explores the human capacity for survival, love and generosity even in the worst of circumstances, and it will be possible to see some of the worst atrocities of the wars of the 20th and 21st centuries in Palestine, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Cambodia, Chile and Bosnia. Haris Pašović is a director who repeatedly reminds the Bosnian and global public of ethical disasters, and The Conquest of Happiness is no different. The acting team consists of artists from three different countries, long-time members of the acting ensemble of the Slovenian Youth Theater Damjana Černe and Željko Hrs will also perform in the play, and in Ljubljana it will be supported by the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana Opera Choir and the Youth Choir of RTV Slovenia. All in all, as many as a hundred performers line up in this theater evening.
