Only one more day separates us from the start of the long-awaited new season of the Game of Thrones series, which we will also be able to watch on HBO Slovenia this year. To further warm you up for the new season, we've got an exclusive interview with series star Liam Cunningham, who portrays ex-smuggler Ser Davos Seaworth.
Where will we find Sera Dovos at the start of Season 7?
At the end of Season 6, Melisandre was banished and Jon Snow becomes his new boss almost by accident. Now that Melisandre has been banished, I think Jon realizes that there is some value in that character. Interestingly, even though Jon becomes King in the North, Davos is not given any official position, such as the Hand of the King. So their relationship is quite informal.
How has Davos changed over the course of the series?
I think with this season comes some leeway. Stannis was a rather barren king, while Jon is a young man, so there will be more room for humor. At the same time, things are getting more and more serious. Of course, this is the penultimate season and things are escalating. There is a situation with the Night King and his White Walkers, and it is quite possible that the West will be destroyed.
How was filming this season different from previous seasons?
First of all, I have to say that we spent as much time on this year's seven episodes as on those classic ten in previous seasons. We shot in various locations and even huge sets were built. Ambitions are extremely high and the scenography will be absolutely extraordinary. Last year, we spent about 25 days shooting the battle of the pancrats, while the sequence was only 20 minutes long. Something similar happened this year too, and we felt like we were shooting a movie and not a TV series.
7th season of the series Game of Thrones will air on HBO from July 17, 2017. You can watch it at HBO GO.
