Historical sources tell thousands of stories about the dance world of the tight rooms of the farmhouses and the bright salons of the middle class. The dance cultures of urban and rural environments have always been colorful and diverse, but still more connected and intertwined than we might have imagined until now. The strict dividing line between noble and peasant, urban and rural, which is often artificially constructed, became the inspiration for the story zito me Intertwining, which will be woven in the Gallus Hall on May 18 by the Marolt family.
They will line up on stage trained choreographies and dances of dance masters of the 18th and 19th centuries, intertwined with ballet elements, as well as a folk dance with a tradition dating back far into the past.
Pushing boundaries in folklore and dance activities has always been the guiding principle of the largest and one of the oldest Slovenian folklore groups - the Academic Folklore Group of France Marolt. The annual productions of the popular Marolt troupe on the stage of Cankarjev dom surprise again and again, and the recreation of folk dance, music and clothing heritage is placed alongside contemporary stage art.
With the jubilee concert for its 65th anniversary, which is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the group will once again step into the field of still unexploited possibilities for folklore and dance stage performances.
