Despite the values and upbringing he receives from his adoptive parents, he feels alienated by his extraordinary abilities. As a young man, he learns that he is not from Earth, so he sets out on a journey to discover where he is from and why he was sent to this planet. When Earth is attacked by evil members of his race from the dying planet Krypton, he feels that he will have to awaken the hero within him if he is to save the world from destruction and become hope for all mankind.
