Itak reveals the festival schedule: Danza Macabra, The Toronto Drug Bust, Dubioza Kolektiv and The Wombats will perform before Editors at Ljubljana's Križanke!
This year, Itak Džafest will serve up a truly urban music festival, which will dress our capital in a festival costume on September 10th with domestic and foreign musical guests. This time, regional musicians and world-class music stars will line up on the stage of Ljubljana's Križanke, entertaining music enthusiasts from the afternoon until late in the evening. All Itak residents can get tickets at a special Džabest price!
After their success with The Killers in 2009 and the acclaimed Džafest trilogy in 2010 (Florence&The Machine, Gossip and Plan B), Itak continues their musical story in the form of the urban festival Itak Džafest. The festival events in Križanke will be opened by members of the Slovenian-Finnish band The Toronto Drug Bust, which combines rock, blues, indie and more. The international portal and radio Somojo declared the group the rock band of 2010 after the release of their debut album "Enfant Terrible", and in Slovenia they have already impressed numerous fans of good indie rock in various concert events.
The festival atmosphere will be enhanced by guests from Sarajevo, Dubioza Kolektiv. The crossover band, well-known in Slovenia, will surely delight everyone who likes bouncy rhythms spiced with socio-political themes with hits such as "Blam", "Kokuz", "Firma Ilegal" and others, which is why their musical products have also been noticed by Time Magazine and the British BBC.
Slovenia will also host the British indie pop band The Wombats for the first time. The Liverpool boys released their debut album in 2007, which reached number eleven on the British Albums Chart. It was followed by "The Wombats EP", intended for the American market, and in 2011 their latest album "The Modern Glitch" was released, with which The Wombats once again topped the British charts.
Editors will be the highlight of the Itak Džafest festival: their debut album "The Back Room" landed at number two on the British album chart, and the hits "Munich", "Bullets" and "Blood" catapulted them into the biggest rock stars, almost overnight. In the late evening hours, the eyes of the Itak people will be fixed on one of the most successful British music bands of the last decade, who will be hosting us after the creation of their long-awaited fourth studio album.
During the changes of performers on the big stage of Križanki, the Slovenian duo Danza Macabra will enhance the musical atmosphere with characteristic electronic rhythms, and will also provide a magnificent conclusion, scheduled for a little after midnight. On September 10, we will witness an urban festival on our soil, which will certainly delight the people of Itakovo and other music lovers with its trendy musical mix. Itak!
