Iva Tratnik, an artist from Celje of the younger generation, is exhibiting in the Art Gallery of Celje.
The artist envisioned the opening of the exhibition (May 18 at 7:00 p.m.) as a musical culinary dance "living picture" in which her colleagues will perform.
As part of the Museum Night, on June 16, 2012, the artist will once again invite the audience to join her in creating, this time with musical instruments. The museum night in the Celje Art Gallery will be colored by music and movement, full of surprises and coincidences.
The exhibition, to which admission is free, will be on view until June 17, 2012.
The space became the image and the image became the space. The viewer will become the creator, and the artist the observer. In a dialogue with the space, they will unite in a movement that will manage the artistic medium during the limited time of the opening of the new exhibition of the Celje artist Iva Tratnik. In a new project called Blackboard, the author transformed the space of the Art Salon into a giant black surface that acts like an old school blackboard. The surface of the wall has already succumbed to the intervention of the artist, her work and space now only await the intervention of the audience.
The project marks the exploration of the position and potential of the painting medium through the process of creation and dialogue with the viewer. Drawings drawn with chalk (images of living and inanimate nature, macroscopic images...) as the first result of the artist's process, communicate with each other in the initial phase, and during the opening of the exhibition they will include (or not) other drawings in their communication circle, which will be created under the fingers of the visitors. In this way, the artist wants to bring the picture as directly as possible to the viewer, thereby demystifying the creative process. With his practice, he moves away from the artistic product as a tangible product, which in today's time of overload with "things" no longer has real value, and puts the event itself in the foreground.
She is interested in the movement of the body in space, which has performative dimensions, so she attacks large surfaces. Last year, the artist presented herself with paintings of large dimensions in the Veščin prah project and in collaboration with Marko Jakšet (Battle Dance for the Bombed Moon), where she intervened as a co-author in the poetics of the established painter. Now she wants to transfer a similar "responsibility" to the random visitors of the Art Salon, who enter into a dialogue with her work, to "force" the question of what will happen to the Panel, on which it is so easy to draw and erase. They will enter a seemingly completed work of art, disturb it and exit it together with the artist at the end of the exhibition. Iva Tratnik doubts the painting as a beautiful, self-contained object, but not the power of the painting medium in the broadest sense. In the case of Tabla, the painting is a changeable social creation, in which the painter bets on temporality.
