One of the world's most respected saxophonists from the jazz band Jan Garbarek is coming to Ljubljana. He and his band will prepare a special musical evening for us at Kino Šiška. The group consists of exceptional musicians: keyboardist Rainer Brüninghaus, who has accompanied Garbarek for many years, Brazilian bassist Yuri Daniel and the great Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu. The Norwegian saxophonist, born in 1947, has worked with many musical giants during his long career, including Keith Jarrett. It was his collaboration with him that earned him a special place among the elite of modern jazz musicians. We also have to thank Garbarek that European jazz has found its place in musical history, because with his sound he achieved the recognition of the original European sound in jazz. His music is characterized by being simple and complex at the same time. The excellent improvisation skills of all the performers give their concerts a special touch. He will share the stage with virtuoso percussionist Trilok Gurtu. Despite the fact that he is a master of Indian music, he rejects this title, as he believes that music is meant to touch people regardless of the way it is performed. Many people accuse him of too much freedom in interpreting the rhythm, but it is this freedom that gives him the seal of recognition and greatness. A visit to this superb concert is a must for all lovers of good music.
