For the fifteenth year in a row, a jazz festival will take place in Cerkno, which is a real feast for the ears and an event for music connoisseurs. This year, too, the organizers have provided a very varied program. Top musicians from both domestic and foreign circles will perform. Accordionist Marko Hatlak, who plays both Bach and Piazzolla with equal success, will perform with the Marko Hatlak & guest project. The Japanese-Slovenian trio will present Slovenian and foreign modern avant-garde music in the program called Moderna. Italian-American IDR - Italian Doc remix, led by the Italian guitarist Marco Cappelli, will introduce us to traditional music from the south of Italy and its ties with emigrants who brought it to the United States, where the memory of it has changed and distorted over the years. The trio Portal/Chevillon/Echampard will embody the noble interweaving of European and American jazz. Bratko Bibič will introduce us to his biggest band to date, called Off-Sight In-Voice Projektili, which includes his regular collaborators, the string quartet Godalika and the female vocal octet Javorca. We will take part in a solo concert by the Czech violinist Iva Bittova. The Swedish-Norwegian band Martin Küchen Angles Sextett will present themselves with engaging music at the intersection of modern and avant-garde jazz. The improv band PaPaJo is one of the most important bands on the modern jazz music scene and plays so-called free-flow music, which will introduce us to the events of the last day of the festival. This will be followed by a concert by the Norwegian quintet Zanussi Five and many others. The jubilee festival will be accompanied by side-festival workshops: Wild food by Dario Cortese, a photography workshop by Žiga Koritnik Jazzy, and a percussion workshop for children led by Blaž Celarec.
