Jazz lovers, beware! Cerkno will once again, for the seventeenth year in a row, turn into the capital of jazz. We will be treated to performances by international and Slovenian bands of a wide range of jazz styles: from traditional to modern tendencies and experiments. The festival will be opened by the international trio Vanilla Riot, which combines energetic, exploratory jazz with electronic touches. The Royal Improvisers Orchestra is a collective working in the Netherlands under the leadership of brass player Yed Gibson. The first day will be closed by the virtuoso German guitarist Uwe Kropinski, who skilfully interweaves many historical and modern musical genres in his expression. Vandeweyer Van Hove Blume Lovens Quartet will impress us with a perfect game on the border between sound bursts and surprising silence. The Spanish-German Fernández Guy López Trio will continue, subtly intertwining the elegance of new classical music and jazz. Friday evening will be closed by the international septet Christian Lillinger's Grund, led by composer and drummer Christian Lillinger. A Slovenian-Swiss-French quartet will perform on the main stage Doneda Kocher Sambolec Grom, Australian-French duo Joseph Tawadros and Jean-Louis Matinier, who will present us with a stunning modern version of Arabic music. The bombastic finale will be provided by the band Atomic, in which some of the best Scandinavian jazzers have gathered.
