Also this year, for the nineteenth time, Jazz Cerkno will take place. Despite the recession, jazz music will resound through the streets of Cerkno and turn it into the capital of jazz at the end of May.
In three evenings diverse performers from all over the world, both well-known and less well-known, will perform, who are united by the discovery of new directions in jazz and the expansion of musical horizons. Jazz in Cerkno is always varied and interesting because it focuses on the collision of cultures and musical practices.
We are always impressed by the diverse approaches, where jazz often meets and plays with other genres such as rock, electronics, new and old classical music, experimental music, various traditional bands... This is how they will perform this year Žan Tetičkovič and Big Band RTV Slovenia, Peeping Tom, Žoambo Žoet Workestrao, Emir A3, Robert Jukič, Naked Wolf, Barre Phillips, Eivind Opsvik, São Paulo Underground and DKV Trio. Accompanying workshops also offer us a varied selection of events around the festival. All jazz routes lead to Cerkna at the end of May. It has been so for many years before and hopefully for many years to come.
