Jimmy Picard, An Indian from the Črnna noga tribe, after the end of the Second World War they were admitted to the military hospital in Topeka, Kansas, a progressive institution dedicated to mental illness. Jimmy has many problems: severe headaches, bouts of dizziness, temporary blindness, hearing loss... and withdrawal. Due to the absence of any physiological causes, the doctors diagnose him with schizophrenia, but the hospital management nevertheless decides to ask the opinion of a French psychoanalyst and an expert on American Indian culture.
