Spouse Bardem and Cruz, both Oscar winners, will play together again in the film and try to conjure up chemistry between them on the big screen. The film was shot entirely in Colombia, which according to director Fernando León de Aranoa was inevitable, largely due to the authenticity of the location and the story itself.
