JYSK Slovenia is committed to improving the quality of sleep of children and young people visiting resorts, which is part of the socially responsible project "JYSK Bedtime Story". To date, the company has donated 365 sleeping products and renovated rooms in four Slovenian children's resorts, enabling children and young people to have a more comfortable stay and better quality rest.

A project that changes nights and brings smiles

The project started in 2021 in cooperation with the Association of Friends of the Youth of Slovenia (ZPMS), with the vision of renovating one resort every year and equipping it with mattresses, pillows, bedding and sleeping accessories. The first donation went to Home of Miloš Zidanšek in Pohorje, where JYSK furnished 16 rooms with 70 new mattresses. The following year, in Camp Mojca in Dolenjske Toplice furnished as many as 10 holiday homes, and last year they renovated 5 rooms in Home of EMAVS near Bled. In the first half of 2024, the project reached Rat, where 14 rooms were transformed into more pleasant places to relax.

"Thanks to the donation from JYSK, children in our resorts, where they come from socially disadvantaged families or on medical holidays, now have better sleeping conditions. Sleep is key to children's physical and mental well-being, so we are grateful to JYSK for their support in renewing our equipment." she said Breda Krašna, general secretary of the ZPMS.

Sleep and its influence on the health of young people

The importance of quality sleep for children is increasingly in the foreground, as sleep is a key component of their overall development. Research by the National Institute of Public Health warns that sleep disorders affect between 10 and 30 % children and adolescents, while only a fifth of young people sleep long enough. Asst. dr. Barbara Nnidovec Stražisar from the Center for Sleep Disorders emphasizes that it is sleep together with regular physical activity and a balanced diet that is the basic condition for the healthy development of children.

With its project, JYSK Slovenia contributes to the elimination of these problems among young people, while at the same time continuing with educational activities for all generations. The company has been implementing the project for a long time "JYSK sleep school", which raises public awareness of the importance of good sleep and offers the best solutions for improving sleeping conditions.

Plans for the future: more donations and better memories

Through its activities, JYSK strives to not only create business results in local communities, but also to improve the quality of life, especially for the most vulnerable. Star Sirk Novak, Communications Manager for JYSK in Slovenia and the region, emphasized: "We believe that quality sleep plays an essential role in the development of children and adolescents. Our goal is to enable a more comfortable stay in resorts and thus contribute to the creation of good memories for young visitors." A further donation to the Pacug resort is planned this year, and in 2025 they plan to equip another Slovenian children's resort.

With this initiative, JYSK has proven that even large companies can significantly influence the quality of life in the communities in which they operate, thereby enabling a better future for young people. You can find more information about JYSK's projects on their official website Web site.
