Where to travel in the fall? While the masses pack their bags, true hedonists are just planning their trip. This time, not for a “check-in”, but for a feeling. For luxury without the label “luxury”, for aesthetics that need no filter, and for a moment that smells of lavender, coffee and cultural elegance.

September is not a month that calls loudly for adventures – it is a time when Cities really speakWhen the tourist noise disappears, the streets breathe with their true rhythm, restaurants become places of conversation, not just stops, and landscapes unfold without filters – with only natural light and healing silence.
There are places that come to life with new strength at this time. Places that, without the heat and crowds, show their true nature. A space where there is no more noise, there is more sound. Where there is no longer a show – there is content.
Where to travel in autumn?
As the summer heat and crowds finally pack their bags and head back to their offices (or at least to Zoom), Europe begins to reveal itself in a completely different light – warmer, friendlier and above all – more airy. Autumn is the perfect time for city wanderings, as temperatures are pleasant, crowds disappear like the last ice cream on the promenade, and prices become at least a little more friendly. So where to go? Here are eight places that shine like leaves in the park in autumn.
Rome – The Eternal City without the Eternal Crowds
Autumn in Rome? It's like ordering an espresso and getting it with a free croissant. The temperature is still gently caressing (read: around 22 °C), and the crowds in front of the Colosseum are finally retreating – at least enough so that you can make at least one Instagram story in peace without other people's heads in the frame. October Rome tastes as sweet as tiramisu, only without the heat stroke. A walk in Trastevere, apocalyptic sunsets over the Pantheon and dinner under the open sky? Yes, please.
Copenhagen – Autumn hygge magic
Scandinavia Autumn? A surprisingly magical choice. Copenhagen dresses up in copper, gold and grey (in the best sense) in October. The temperatures are cool but far from freezing – perfect for layered fashion experimentation. Grab a bike, warm your soul with cinnamon rolls and treat yourself to a candlelit evening in one of Denmark’s endlessly chic bistros. There are fewer tourists and the hygge is more authentic. And yes, Christiania is still there – if you fancy an alternative.
Lisbon – Summer delayed
Lisbon in autumn feels like someone forgot to turn the calendar back. Temperatures hover around 25°C, the sun shines like the last ray of summer hope, and – best of all – the summer crowds gracefully retreat to the locals. Climb the castle hill, dance to Fado and enjoy sardines. If you’re feeling adventurous, head to Sintra or take a mini road trip to the coastal villages.
Seville – Andalusian Fire (but without heat shock)
In summer, Seville is as hot as a frying pan after three rounds of tapas – that is, unbearable. In autumn, however, it transforms into a real diva: sunny, temperamental and just the right amount of warm (around 27°C in September!). The streets fill with music, the parks come alive with colour, and suddenly it’s more “ole” than “ole”. Flamenco in the crackling evening and sangria without melting ice – Seville shows its true, elegant side in autumn.
Santorini – White and blue romance without the fuss
If you've ever dreamed of Santorini without 385 people standing behind you while you take a sunset photo – autumn is your time. Temperatures are still pleasantly above 20 °C, the sun sets into the sea like an artistic performance and – most importantly – you can afford more than five minutes of peace on the famous steps in Oia. Hotel prices drop, but the romantic vibe remains. Highly recommended for those who want to experience Greece like the gods – without the tourist procession.
Dubrovnik – Game of Thrones without the fight for a selfie spot
Dubrovnik in September and October? Fewer tourists, more elegance. The sea temperature is still suitable for swimming, and the air is ideal for walks along the city walls, which do not leave you breathless like a marathon runner in mid-July. The city finally smells of history, without the screaming cruise ships and endless queues. The perfect time to explore, wine on Stradun and - if we're being honest - still a great backdrop for a good story with the tag #nofilter.
Istanbul – Where Europe and the Orient meet
Autumn in Istanbul is like a well-seasoned kebab – warm, fragrant and full of surprises. The tourist rush has subsided, but the streets are still bustling with life. The temperatures are pleasant, ideal for exploring the bazaars, sailing the Bosphorus and sitting with tea overlooking the Blue Mosque. Istanbul at this time is not only beautiful – it is magical. And without the endless lines in front of Hagia Sophia. It would almost be a sin to miss it.
Marrakech – Exoticism with a touch of comfort
Okay, okay – it’s not exactly European, but it’s close enough to deserve a spot on the list. Marrakech becomes an oasis of comfort in the fall: the heat subsides, the air smells of spices, and the streets of the ancient city invite you to explore without the risk of heatstroke. A riad with a pool, mint tea on the roof, and a walk through the Majorelle Gardens? Yes, please. And all without the fear of melting in your own sandals.
Autumn is a beginning, not an end.
This is not the last chapter of summer – it is its extension in a more mature, more beautiful version. The world is less noisy, more authentic. People have more time, the streets are more homely, and the experiences are more real. There is no need to rush anymore, no need to prove yourself anymore.
So the real question is no longer whether to travel. The real question is: Where to hear the world whisper – and not scream.
In September, you can experience a journey in the tone of cappuccino, in the rhythm of slow steps, and with a style that only comes to the fore when you no longer have to compete with the sun. Destinations are breathing. The sun is no longer so strongEnjoy.
