Settlement Channel is located in the municipality Canal along the Soča, in the central Soška valley. It is distinguished by its picturesque location and charming appearance. The old part of the city stands on a narrow terrace of the left bank of the Soča River, and boasts a central square and charming narrow streets. Neptune's fountain, designed according to Gori tradition, is also located on the square and is considered to be the highest quality Trieste fountain in Slovenia. In the 19th century, it became the Canal the cultural focal point of the entire region, which still gives the settlement a recognizable pulse.
The specialty or attraction of the Canal is Channel bridge, which attracts many visitors and artists from all over the world. The image of the settlement in many photographs is always marked by this beautiful bridge, from where the bravest jump into the water in the summer months and attracts many visitors to traditional events - the famous jumps from the bridge. The first Channel Bridge, built in 1580, was wooden. Over the years, it has been demolished and repaired several times, and it got its present appearance in 1920.
