The new production of APT from Novi Sad with the staging of the text by Slavoj Žižek creates a phenomenon in the history of theater, but at the same time relies on proven practice. Six years ago, the theater obtained directly from Alain Badiou the pro bono copyright to perform his famous work The Twentieth Century. Such an acquisition was something spectacular, as it is a true star among philosophical minds. That was the first time in Slovenia that the work of a modern theoretician was connected with theater and performing arts. The next step in this project is logical. This time, the APT team applied for copyrights to another, but equally famous star in the world of philosophy: Slavoj Žižek, and they got them for free this time as well. In the text, the philosopher deals with the identity of Slovenes, which is also interesting because of its strong emotional charge. The pop icon has already revealed the fact that it is important to break ties with the familiar, familiar and, of course, comfortable when it comes to identity - that is, one's own recognition and enjoyment of life. In order to want to be Slovenes, we have to become non-Slovenes. The controversy of the text is still relevant despite its age, as it is a similar idea as contained in the bestseller Čefurji raus. Director Matjaž Berger took on the challenge of putting a philosophical text on stage, so we can expect a well-thought-out mixture of intelligent and in-depth thinking and short-lived performances.
