As of today, Slovenia is richer for another prestigious brand of handmade leather bags with the signature of The Cambridge Satchel.
The beginning of the story is completely spontaneous and unambitious. An English housewife from Cambridge, Mrs. Julie Deane, started the company out of a need to earn money for her children's education.
So she made her first bags at her kitchen table with the help of her mother. These were initially intended for schoolchildren, but they unexpectedly garnered great enthusiasm and demand among fashion enthusiasts. And they are like fashion accessory became, as they wrote in the English newspaper The Guardian, "a cult among twenty-something fashion bloggers". Popularity, demand and enthusiasm for these handmade bags made of 100% natural cow leather, has expanded at a lightning speed since 2008 until today. At the beginning of the month, they also presented a collaboration with a cult English fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. The latter transferred the print and clasps from its 1981 autumn-winter collection, named "Pirate", to the iconic British bags.
